Welcome to Country
A Welcome to Country is a formal cultural protocol delivered by a Traditional Custodian to respectfully open an event on their ancestral land. Wanaruah Cultural Services provides authentic Welcome to Country ceremonies for conferences, corporate events, school graduations, government meetings, community gatherings and public celebrations across the Hunter Valley and throughout NSW.
Each ceremony honours Country and acknowledges Elders past and present, while sharing cultural meaning appropriate to your event. We work closely with organisers to ensure correct timing, respectful wording and smooth coordination on the day. A Welcome to Country helps set a respectful tone, strengthen community relationships and recognise the deep history and continuing culture of Aboriginal people.

Smoking Ceremony
A Smoking Ceremony is a traditional cleansing ritual using native plants and smoke to acknowledge Country, mark significant occasions and bring people together with positive intention. Wanaruah Cultural Services provides Smoking Ceremonies for openings, milestones, cultural events, school activities, corporate launches and community gatherings throughout the Hunter Valley and NSW.
Ceremonies are conducted safely and respectfully in accordance with cultural practice and site requirements. We can advise on suitable locations, timing and permissions so the ceremony is meaningful and appropriate. A Smoking Ceremony creates a powerful shared moment that honours Country and recognises the importance of culture in contemporary life.
